The beaches of the Makrylies and Lakkoma villages are located in the southwest of the island, 8 km away (10 minutes by car) from Kamariotissa and roughly the same distance from Pachia Ammos.
These are beaches used mostly by the locals. They are rocky with clear water that deepens quite abruptly. The area is protected from the northern winds, so the sea is warmer than in other parts of the island.
In season, you will find sunbeds and umbrellas on the segment of the beach next to the Samothraki Beach Hotel.
The beach belonging to Lakkoma village is called Platania after the river that flows into the sea in the area. Fishing boats can be spotted frequently on and off the shore.
The closest tavernas are To Akrogiali (which also has rooms for rent) and Aperanto Galazio. Both serve mainly fish and seafood and offer great panoramas of the sea.
